I am sitting in the middle of a big messy room that used to be my office. We still have a lot of packing to do, and I have one more photo shoot in Omaha tomorrow.
Ironically, my very last shoot in Midwest is going to be with the same girl who was my very first client in Omaha a few years ago. She is a beautiful model and actress, and she kindly agreed to accept our little ferret into the ferret family she already owns. Unfortunately, ferrets are illegal in California, so we have to leave our little buddy here. On the bright side, Karrie has a very cute female ferret Kita, and our little buddy had a crush on her when Karrie had him for a few days when we went to LA for a few days in August. He’s going to be very happy to see her again and spend the rest of his life with her 🙂
Yesterday I had a photo shoot with a friend and fellow photographer Tonja. You may have seen the posts I made on my Julia Kuzmenko | Visual Artist facebook page, asking my friends to help Tonja raise funds to be able to buy a new service dog. Thanks to all who did not disregard those posts, Tonja got her new helper and his name is Duke. Her old service dog Luka is now officially retired. Last night we had a long and fun photo shoot in Ashland, NE with Tonja, her husband Jason and their 3 dogs: Luka, Duke and their amazing great dane Hazel.
The other thing I wanted to mention today was a recommendation for those of you who work for themselves. Freelance artists and entrepreneurs.
I have recently read this super inspiring, motivating and helpful book called Manage Your Day-to-Day: Build Your Routine, Find Your Focus, and Sharpen Your Creative Mind (The 99U Book Series) the creators of Behance.net. The authors have just released their second book called Maximize Your Potential: Grow Your Expertise, Take Bold Risks & Build an Incredible Career (The 99U Book Series) and I have just received it in the mail today.
I know I won’t be able to start it until our move is over, but I seriously can’t wait to get to it – I have looked through and it is exactly what I need. I bet you will also find a lot of great motivation and advice from the super successful people in our industry and other Arts who contributed to these great little books. And they are really inexpensive (especially considering the amount of info and inspiration they give).
